An insured under a CGL policy has a duty to cooperate with the insurer during a claim investigation. Failure to cooperate may result in:

• The insured is subject to a state fine for non-cooperation
• The insurer may deny coverage for that claim or void the policy
• Coverage automatically transfers to the insurer's selected defense counsel
• The insurer must pay the claim regardless
