According to the CPC, each plumbing fixture must be separately trapped by an approved water-seal trap, except when:

• Three single-compartment sinks are in the same room and within 30 inches of each other.
• Two kitchen sinks share a common drain in a residential duplex.
• Four floor drains serve adjacent rooms in a commercial building.
• Two lavatories are installed back-to-back on a common wall.
