Armored cable (Type AC) requires a listed anti-short bushing (red bushing) installed at every termination primarily to:

• Protect conductors from the sharp cut armor edge
• Provide a waterproof seal at the box
• Improve the tensile strength of the connection
• Allow the armor to serve as the EGC
